Description
Woonton Court is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with alterations and extensions made during the 17th century and further changes in the late 18th or early 19th century. The building features a refacing of sandstone rubble to a timber-framed structure, with later additions also in sandstone rubble and brick infill to the timber framing visible at the rear. It has an L-plan layout, with the main range oriented southwest to northeast and a wing extending to the rear, along with additional structures at the southwest end.
The rear of the house has a lateral stack with decorative stone shafts and another axial stack, with the entrance located on the southeast front. The building is single storey with an attic, while the later addition is two storeys high. On the southeast front, there are two 2-light casement windows on the left side of the later addition, a gable end of the cross-wing with two 2-light casement windows on the first floor and French casements on the ground floor. The main range to the right features three gabled dormers with 3-light casement windows, one 5-light window from the 20th century, and one 3-light window next to a ledged door. Additionally, there are seven rows of nesting boxes with alighting ledges on the northeast gable end. Inside, the central room displays steeply chamfered beams.
