Description
Ashley Moor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with extensions from the late 17th century and late 18th century, along with some alterations from the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill set on a rubble base, and it has been extended with coursed rubble, topped by a machine tile roof. The building is arranged in an L-plan, with the 17th-century range located to the northeast and the 18th-century rubble range to the southeast.
The main stack on the northwest wall is made of rubble with a brick shaft, and there is also a lateral stack on the southwest wall of the southern range. The front facing the road to the southwest has a gable on the left that slightly jetties over the rubble ground floor. A casement window in the gable lights the upper floor, while the ground floor is blind. The range to the right features a two-light casement window above the entrance, which has a hipped slate roof and a panelled door.
The framing consists of four square panels high on the side walls, and the gable end has a chamfered bressummer supporting the jetty, with diagonal framing in the truss above. Inside, there are some ovolo moulded ceiling beams.
