Description
Fownhope Cottage is a house dated 1836, though it may be older. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with brick shafts and has a roof covered in stone slates. The building has a single-depth layout with a central entrance and end stacks, along with a later lean-to addition at the rear. It stands two storeys tall and features three windows with flat arches and pronounced voussoirs. The outer windows are 3-light glazing bar casement windows, while the central window is a similar 2-light design. The entrance is marked by an open canopied porch supported by trellis, leading to a half-glazed door. There is a partly disfigured datestone located toward the center of the main front, just below the eaves.
