Description
The Green Man Inn is a 17th-century inn that has been extensively remodeled in the early 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed core with a sandstone plinth and painted brick remodelling, topped with a part hipped tiled roof. The building has an irregular plan, originally designed as an L-shaped house facing north towards the road, but later additions to the south and west have altered its appearance, resulting in three parallel ranges with further extensions to the southwest.
The inn has a central entrance and end stacks, is two storeys high with a cellar, and showcases a dentilled eaves cornice. The north front is fitted with three windows that have 20th-century glazing bar sashes, while canted windows from the 20th century flank the entrance on the ground floor. There are steps leading up to the doorway, which is covered by a canopy and features a 20th-century ledged door. The interior retains some historical elements, including exposed ceiling beams and an open fireplace located in the rear right of the building.
