Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres south-east of Freetown Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century or early 18th century. It features a timber frame with slatted infill and weatherboard cladding on the south gable end, with part of the structure underbuilt in brick. The barn has a tiled roof and consists of seven bays aligned north to south. The western side is partly obscured by a 20th-century lean-to, which is not of special interest. The main entrance to the threshing floor is in the second bay from the south. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with angle bracing connecting the main post to the wall-plate.
