Description
Farmhouse. Dating from the 17th century, it has been altered in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The farmhouse is timber-framed with painted brick infill and wattle-and-daub, with painted brick refacing to the south front and later additions, and a pantiled roof. It has four framed bays aligned east/west, facing south. There is a lean-to to the rear with a catslide roof, and a further lean-to with a catslide roof to the eastern half of the south front. The entrance is through the lean-to. A large stack is located at the west gable end, and a further lateral stack is toward the centre at the rear, now incorporated within a lean-to. The farmhouse is a single storey with an attic, featuring two dormers with two-light casements to the west. Below are two tripartite sash windows with cambered heads in the brick refacing. A forward projecting lean-to has irregular fenestration, one sash window to the east and three irregular casement windows to the west of a plain ledged door. Much of the timber framing remains, although it is encased within later additions. Generally, the framing consists of three square panels from sill to wall-plate, with three struts to the collar and V-struts in the gable. The interior contains good chamfered ceiling beams in the two western bays. The remaining bays are irregular, with dropped tie-beam trusses, and were likely added in the 18th century.
