Description
This lych gate, located about 10 yards south of the Church of St John the Baptist, is possibly from the 14th or 15th century, with early 20th-century extensions and restoration. It features a sandstone plinth, a timber frame, and a stone slate roof that is half-hipped due to the extensions added to the north and south. The structure consists of one bay aligned north to south. It has moulded corner posts supporting tie-beams, which have hollowed out soffits that, along with curved braces, create round-headed openings. The wall-plates are chamfered, and there is one purlin on each slope of the roof.
