Description
The Llanwarne War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was later updated to include names from the Second World War. It is located opposite the ruins of the Church of St John the Baptist, which is a Grade II* listed building and a scheduled monument, within the village.
The memorial features a plain Latin cross atop a tapering octagonal shaft, which is set on a square plinth with a three-stepped octagonal base. The south face of the plinth displays the main inscription in incised lettering, which reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR. 1914 – 1918." The north face bears the inscription: "(NAMES) LIVE THOU FOR ENGLAND AS WE FOR ENGLAND DIED."
Additionally, there is an inscription on the west face of the plinth that states: "(NAMES) 1939 – 1945."
