Description

Newgrove is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, with earlier origins. It is constructed of roughly coursed sandstone rubble, featuring stone end stacks with brick shafts and a Welsh slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays. The garden front faces east and has segmental heads on the window openings, except for the central first-floor window, which is round-headed. The ground floor has glazing bar sash windows, while the first floor has late 20th-century casements on either side of the round-headed sash, which includes radiating glazing bars in the upper sash. The top floor features two-light late 19th-century casements. There is a central entrance door, likely from the 20th century, with a glazing bar transom light. The joints in the sandstone indicate that the current structure was expanded from a two-bay, two-storey building. Attached to the left is a one-bay cross-wing that extends to the rear, which may have served as a former service wing and dairy.
