Description

The tower located about 10 metres east of the Church of St Bartholomew is a detached structure dating from the 14th century, with some restoration from the late 19th century. It is built of random rubble with some ashlar dressings and features a pyramidal slate roof with a shallow pitch. The tower has a square plan and includes a stepped buttress at the south-east angle. It consists of three stages, with the belfry displaying a window of two pointed lights beneath a two-centred head on the east, north, and south faces. The first stage features a single-light square-headed window on the east wall, while the south wall has a blocked window. The ground stage also has similar square-headed windows on the east and south walls. The entrance on the west wall has a restored two-centred arch with chamfered jambs. At the top, the roof is capped by a weathervane that marks the cardinal points, along with a globe at its base.
