Description
The detached bell tower located south of the Church of St Bartholomew dates back to the 13th century for its lower section, while the upper part was added in the 16th century. The lower section is constructed of sandstone rubble, and the upper section is timber-framed, topped with a pyramidal tiled roof. The tower has a rectangular plan and consists of three stages. The lower two stages are made of stone and feature a two-centred arched doorway on the east wall, along with lancet windows with labels on the south and west walls. The second stage also has similar slightly later lancets on the south, west, and east sides, with a label on the south window only. The top stage is characterized by close-studded timber-framing and has a pair of square-headed vents on each side.
