Description
The tower to the Church of St. Clement is a freestanding structure located in Terrington St. Clement. It dates from the early 16th century, with bequests recorded from 1501 to 1527. The tower is built of ashlar and consists of three stages, supported by diagonal buttresses. It features an arched west doorway with moulded jambs and an arch beneath a hood mould with head stops. There is also a semi-circular doorway on the south side. A four-light west window is situated under a hood mould, and string courses run above the apex of the window and below the belfry windows, marking the unadorned ringing chamber. The belfry is adorned with three-light panel windows. At the top, there is a crenellated parapet with arcaded panelling, along with corner pinnacles and subsidiary pinnacles at the center of each side.
