Description
Lovells Cottage is a house built in the mid-18th century, with early 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of brick and has slate roofs. The original 18th-century house features a lobby entrance plan and is two storeys high with three bays, where the central bay projects forward. The central door is now blocked, with windows on either side and two additional windows on the first floor. There is a blind window in the center of the first floor. The windows are late 18th-century arched Gothick style, either two or three lights, and have flat tops. To the left of the door, there is an early 20th-century canted bay. The gabled roof has a central ridge stack.
The south facade, which dates from the early 19th century, is also two storeys and has three bays. It features a panelled door on the left and two sash windows with glazing bars on the right. The first floor has two similar sash windows flanking a central blind window. An ogee timber verandah covers the ground floor, supported by wrought iron piers, and the verandah now has inserted glazing in the roof. The house has a gabled roof with an external stack on the west gable end and an internal stack on the east.
