Description
Hardwick House is a house built in the early 19th century, with a mid-20th century addition. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a hipped slate roof, with a single ridge and two side wall stacks. The building has two storeys and a three-window range of glazing bar sashes, all of which have keystoned lintels. The ground floor windows are larger than those on the upper floor. At the centre of the façade is a Classical porch supported by fluted columns and an entablature, which shelters a fielded six-panel door topped by a fanlight with Gothic tracery. The north side facing the street has three windows on each floor. Inside, there is a stairwell with a plain cornice and moulded doorcases that also have Gothic fanlights. The interior features a cantilevered stair with landings, stick balusters, and a ramped scrolled handrail.
