Description
This is a house of probable late 18th or early 19th century date, although it incorporates an earlier timber-framed structure. It is located on Church Street in Bromyard, a small market town first recorded around 840. The building forms part of a group of listed buildings along Church Street and is designated at Grade II for its architectural and historic interest and group value.
The front of the building is recessed from the pavement and extends the full width of the plot. The facade is colourwashed brick, masking the underlying timber frame. The roof is covered in slates and is gabled. The building is two storeys high. The street front features a plain wooden, half-glazed door with a moulded surround, a pedimented hood and shaped brackets, located slightly to the left of centre and leading via a passageway to the rear of the property. Flanking the door are three bays of near-symmetrical arrangement, each containing sixteen-pane sash windows with painted brick lintels and sills.
The interior has not been inspected.
This property lies on a principal thoroughfare linking the church and market square. The surrounding area was well-built up by the early 17th century, though the plots have undergone redevelopment.
