Description
This barn, located about 60 yards south-west of Winforton Court, dates from the 17th century and has some 20th-century alterations. It features a timber-framed structure that is partly weatherboarded and partly has lath infill on a brick and rubble base, with some sections of rubble walling and a corrugated metal roof. The barn consists of five framed bays arranged east to west, with a central wagon bay that has opposed cart entries and double doors.
Inside, the wall framing includes three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The roof structure has been partially renewed and consists of collar and tie-beam trusses throughout, with intermediate trusses featuring raking struts in the lower corners and two tiers of trenched purlins. This barn encloses the farmyard to the south-west and is notable for being the only building surrounding the farmyard that remains unconverted. It is included for its group value.
