Description

WINFORTON CP WINFORTON SO 24 NE 5/131 Barn about 60 yards south-west of 14.5.85 Winforton Court GV II Barn. C17 with some C20 alterations. Timber-framed; partly weatherboarded and partly with lath infill on brick and rubble base with some rubble walling and corrugated metal roof. Five framed bays aligned east/west; central wagon bay with opposed cart entries and double doors. Interior: wall-framing has three rows of panels from sill to wall-plate and long straight braces across the lower corners. Roof structure has been partly renewed and has collar and tie-beam trusses throughout (intermediate trusses have raking struts across lower corners) and two tiers of trenches purlins. The barn encloses the farmyard to the south-west and is the only building surrounding the farmyard to remain uncoverted. Included for group value. (RCHM, III, p 213, item 3).
