Description

Court Barn Cottage is a house dating from around 1700, which was restored in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed with rendered infill on a rubble base, featuring some brick walling and a slate roof. The building consists of two framed bays that are aligned roughly east to west, and it has external rubble chimneys with brick stacks at both gable ends. The chimney at the west end also includes a circular bread oven.

The cottage is a single storey with an attic that has dormers. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall plate, short straight upper corner braces, and collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. All the windows are 20th-century casements.

On the south front elevation, there are three 2-light windows on the ground floor, with plank weatherings; two of these are set beneath a continuous weathering. There is also a 2-light stair window at eaves level and two gabled dormers with 2-light windows. To the right of the center, there is a 20th-century gabled timber porch with a partly-glazed door. The attic has lights in the gable ends. The main entrance is located at the west gable end, behind the chimney, and features a 20th-century lean-to timber and brick porch with a stable door. Additionally, there is a single-bay brick wing at the rear.
