Description

Willersley Court is a Grade II* listed farmhouse dating from the early 16th century, with alterations and refacing carried out in the early to mid-18th century, and further modifications in the mid-19th century. The building is timber-framed, featuring painted brick and rendered infill on a rubble base, and is partly faced with 18th-century brickwork. It has slate roofs and a tall brick stack at the west end of the main ridge. The structure is H-shaped, consisting of a three-bay hall range aligned east to west, with cross-wings at both ends, likely each comprising two bays. The east cross-wing has an external rubble chimney with a brick stack on its east side. The farmhouse is two storeys high with cellars.

The visible framing at the rear shows four rows of panels from the sill to the wall-plate, along with collar and tie-beam trusses featuring struts. The south front elevation has a symmetrical arrangement of 2:3:2 bays. All windows are 12-pane sashes with cambered heads, and the central first-floor window of the main range is blind. The central entrance features a gabled timber porch and a 20th-century door. A lean-to outshut on the west side includes a 20th-century door and a square left side light in its south elevation.

Inside, the farmhouse boasts moulded ceiling beams and joists. A room in the west wing has exposed joists laid flat. Additionally, there are two rooms in the west wing lined with early 17th-century panelling, which includes a frieze and cornice. One of these rooms features a fireplace flanked by fluted pilasters and an overmantel with five arcaded panels; the east and west walls have moulded wall-posts with linenfold panels cut out of the solid. There are also two early 18th-century fireplaces recorded elsewhere in the building, each with moulded surrounds.
