Description
This barn, located to the south-west of The Wern Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century. It features a timber-framed structure that is weatherboarded on a rubble base, with some sections of rubble walling and a stone tiled roof arranged in diminishing courses. The barn consists of four framed bays running north to south, with a wagon bay that has opposed cart entries located in the third bay from the south end. Inside, there are three rows of square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, supported by long straight braces in the lower corners. The roof structure includes a collar and tie-beam truss with struts and V-struts above the collar at both ends, along with three intermediate tie-beam trusses that have raking struts and three tiers of trenched purlins. This barn is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
