Description
The gateway to the former Elton Manor, dating from the late 18th century, features gatepiers, gates, and flanking walls. The gatepiers are made of limestone ashlar and are broad and square, with heavy rustication on the front and back. Each pier has a pilaster strip on either side topped with a scroll and is capped with a moulded pyramidal top. The flanking walls are constructed of brick and have square brick terminating piers, a blue tile weathered plinth, and limestone coping. The heavy iron gates are designed with round bars and dog bars, featuring a row of circles at the base and two large intersecting semicircles.
