Description
The entrance gateway formerly to Blyth Hall, dating from around 1770, features gate piers, a wall, gates, and gate stones made of ashlar and wrought iron. The wall is rusticated and coped, set on a plinth, and has central double wrought iron gates with a decorative wrought iron overthrow and a central bell above. The overthrow is supported by the wall. On either side of the gates are single, damaged, rusticated piers that protrude from and rise above the wall, each adorned with a frieze decorated with paterae and a dentil cornice. Flanking the central gates are single rusticated arches supported on imposts, each with a single wrought iron gate beneath. At the outer edges, there are single rusticated piers that terminate at the level of the wall. Additionally, to the west and east of each of the larger piers, there is a single ashlar gate stone.
