Description

The Homestead is a house, originally two cottages, dating from the 17th century and the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and brick, with rendered and whitewashed surfaces. It is likely that the building was originally timber-framed. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles, featuring a single brick ridge stack and a single left gable stack. The house sits on a coursed rubble plinth and is two storeys high with five windows arranged irregularly. A 20th-century door occupies the centre, while the right side has a single 20th-century three-light casement window. To the left are a single two-light casement and two further four-light casements. Above, there are three similar two-light casements. A single-storey rendered extension, set back on the left, contains a large and a small casement window. Inside, some exposed beams and timber posts are present. The building is included on the heritage list for its group value.
