Description
Highfield Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on Granby Sutton Lane in Sutton Village. The building features rendered walls and a hipped slate roof with two brick lateral stacks. It is three storeys tall with a symmetrical three-bay facade. The central round-arched sunk panel runs through all three storeys and contains the doorway and a central window on the first floor, but there is no central window on the second floor. The doorway is round-arched and includes a fanlight with radial glazing bars. On either side of the doorway are single tripartite casements with glazing bars. The first-floor window is a central two-light window, while the second floor has two-light windows. The ground and first-floor windows have shallow segmental heads. The casements are reported to be 20th-century copies of the originals. The side elevations are single-bay. At the rear, there is a small single-storey addition with a projecting chimney breast that forms a lateral stack for the main house. An early rear wing that was located on the site of this addition was demolished around 1973. The interior is said to contain a contemporary staircase with simple iron balusters and a ramped handrail, an attic store with original wooden ventilation above the door, and an Edwardian fireplace.
