Description

GOSFORD AND WATER EATON WATER EATON SP51SW 6/47 Gateway approx. 30m. E of 07/12/66 Water Eaton Manor house (Formerly listed as detached wings with the wall and gatepieces (sic) between) GV II Gatepiers and gate. Piers late C17/early Cl8; gates probably C20. Limestone ashlar. Square piers have moulded bases and entablatures which break around shallow pilasters on each face; hanging faces have projecting strips with scrolled tops. Stone ball finials are supported on moulded bases. Wrought iron gates. (Buildings of England: Oxfordshire, p.825; H.
