Description
The Healthwell/Wendy's Salon consists of three houses, an attached cottage, and a former bakehouse, which have been converted into two shops and four flats. The building dates from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick and features pantile roofs.
The front of the building has a continuous fascia over the shopfronts, cogged eaves, a single gable, and single ridge stacks. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range. There are three plain sash windows with segmental heads, and above them, three smaller windows with glazing bars, one of which has been renewed. An off-centre carriage opening leads to the left, where there is a replica early 19th-century shopfront with a central door and fanlight, flanked by single windows, each containing three round-headed lights. To the right, there is an altered late 19th-century shopfront with an angled doorway and a single window.
At the rear, there are two parallel two-storey ranges that flank a courtyard. The north side features two late 18th-century cottages, with the left one being double fronted, showcasing segment-headed ground floor openings and mainly Yorkshire sash windows. On the south side, there is a hipped projection at the left in the return angle, and to its right, a single-storey glazed corridor that connects to the former bakehouse. The fenestration on the building is mainly from the 20th century.
