Description
Well House is a two-storey building with a roughcast front that jetties over the ground floor. It features a narrow, later addition of a two-storey projecting bay on the left side. The building has slate roofs, with the apex of the rear range located at the center and a brick stack on the left gable end. The eaves are wide and moulded.
There is a moulded bressummer above the ground floor center, with an arched brace to the right. The entry is further to the right and is supported by arch-braced timber supports and timber studding. The facade has three windows, mostly double-hung sashes with glazing bars in flush-set frames, and a two-light casement window above the entry to the right. The doorway is situated in the angle to the center, featuring a pulvinated frieze and a six-panel door beneath a flat hood supported by curved brackets and a single colonnette. There is a small railed forecourt in front of the building.
The higher slate roof has a massive brick stack on the rear range, which has studded walls. A recessed bay with tripartite windows and a basement is adjacent to Well Cottage at the rear. The interior is noted to have good stairs with a 17th-century baluster handrail.
