Description

Snowdrop Cottage is a 17th-century house that was restored and altered between 1983 and 1984. The building features remnants of timber framing with brick nogging and brickwork, topped with a 20th-century pantile roof and a plain tile verge. On the south side, there are remains of three bays of timber framing. The cottage has a single gable and ridge stacks, is two storeys high, and has an L-plan layout with a 20th-century two-storey rear wing to the east.

The north front includes a 20th-century gabled brick porch with a glazed door on the right, flanked by four Yorkshire sash windows on the left and a single Yorkshire sash window on the right, all of varying sizes and with segmental heads. Above this, there is an off-centre Yorkshire sash window, and further up, three 20th-century gabled dormers with casements.

On the south front, there are two casement windows with segmental heads on the left and two French windows on the right. Above these, there are two 20th-century gabled dormers with casements. The west front features a door on the left and a casement window on the right, both with segmental heads. The south gable has a casement window on each floor, both with segmental heads. The east front has four casement windows of different sizes, all with segmental heads.

Inside, the cottage has a bay post with a strut to the tie beam, and struts extending from the tie beam to the rafters. There is a central full-height timber-framed chimney, and to the west, a stud wall with wattle and daub infill. The roof structure was renewed around 1983.
