Description
1 and 2 Church Walk are two houses that have been converted into a house and shop. They were built in the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century and mid-20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature a steeply pitched concrete tile roof.
Architecturally, they have a first floor band, modillioned wooden eaves, and gutters supported on brackets. There are two gable stacks and one ridge stack. The structure is two storeys tall, plus attics, and has a four-window range of segment-headed glazing bar sashes, with the third window from the left being blank. Above this, there is a nearly central box dormer that contains a two-light leaded casement window.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a moulded four-panel door with a segmental head and a blank overlight. To the right of this door, there is an early 19th-century glazing bar shop window with a reeded surround. Further to the right, there is an early 19th-century wooden doorcase with curved brackets supporting a flat hood, which frames a moulded six-panel door and overlight. Next to this, there is another early 19th-century shop window similar to the one on the left.
