Description

This building, located on Appleton Gate in Newark-on-Trent, was originally a public house, dating from around 1800. It is now a shop. The building is constructed of brick, with a rendered finish, and has a pantile roof. It features rusticated quoins and half-round dentillated eaves. There are single gable and ridge stacks. The building is three storeys high and originally had a two-window front, with steel cross casement windows. Above these are two smaller steel casement windows. A full-width shopfront with a continuous fascia was installed in the late 20th century. The shopfront has a central, splayed doorway flanked by single-pane windows.
