Description
No. 25 Bridge Street is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the early 18th century and has undergone alterations in the mid and late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings, and while the roof is not visible, it features a single ridge and single gable stacks. The exterior includes rusticated quoins, bands at the second floor and eaves, a coped parapet with blank panels, and a single coped gable at the rear.
The building stands three storeys high and has a seven-window range of segment-headed glazing bar sashes, complete with keystones and moulded architraves. The third window from the left has been altered. Above this, there are seven similar flat-headed windows, two of which have altered heads, and one is blank. On the ground floor, there are two late 20th-century shopfronts with three single-pane windows beneath a continuous fascia.
On the left side, facing Barnby Gate, there are three windows similar to those at the front, with a single blank window on each upper floor and a two-light casement on the second floor. Below these, there are two 20th-century single-pane windows. On the right side, facing Balderton Gate, there are five windows that match the front, with the second floor windows and one on the first floor featuring 20th-century flat heads. Below this side, there is a late 20th-century shopfront with a fascia.
