Description
Tadorna is a house and adjoining former stable located in Newark on Trent, dating from around 1800, with alterations made in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a combination of stucco and brick, with stone dressings and hipped slate roofs that include a single ridge, gable, and side wall stacks. It has a plinth and deep eaves.
The house, situated on the right, is two storeys high and has a five-window range, featuring 12-pane sash windows with shutters. The central entrance is marked by a stone doorcase with a hood supported by scroll brackets, leading to a part-glazed fielded panelled door with an overlight. To the left of the entrance, there are two large plain sashes with shutters, and to the right, a canted bay window with three 6-pane sashes. The right return of the house includes a single 8-pane sash on each floor.
The two-storey stable range on the left has five windows. It features three glazing bar sashes of varying sizes, and below them, a 20-pane sash window flanked on the left by a metal casement and followed by two pairs of garage doors. To the right of this, there is a smaller casement window, and a projection that includes two plain sashes on each floor along with a half-glazed door.
