Description
The Newark Odinist Temple, formerly known as Bede House Chapel, is a former chapel built around 1556. It has been restored in the 19th century and again in the 1980s. The building is constructed from lias limestone rubble and ashlar, featuring ashlar dressings and a graduated stone slate roof topped with a wooden bell turret that has a tent shape. It has a plinth and coped gables, and is a single-storey, single-cell structure.
On the east gable and north side, there are flat-headed three-light windows with chamfered mullions, while the east window includes a restored hood mould. The south side features a chamfered and moulded doorcase with a plank door on the left. The west gable, facing the street, displays a shield at the peak. The interior was refitted in the 1980s and includes two span beams.
