Description

No. 7 Castlegate is a former public house that is now a nightclub. It dates from the mid-18th century and early 19th century, with changes made to the windows in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a pantile roof. It has rebated eaves and an incomplete eaves band, with two ridge stacks and a single gable stack. The openings in the façade have segmental heads and the building is two storeys tall with a five-window range in an L-plan layout. There are five glazing bar sash windows, with the leftmost window positioned at a lower level. To the left, there is an altered carriage opening, and to the right of this, a door is flanked by a pair of larger glazing bar sashes. Further to the right, there is a recess that contains a plank door.
