Description
9 and 11 Kirkgate are two houses that have been converted into a dental surgery. They were built in the late 18th century and underwent alterations in the late 19th century, with further conversion in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick and topped with a pantile roof. They feature a first-floor band, dentillated eaves, a coped gable, and both single gable and single ridge stacks. The structure is two storeys high, plus attics, and has a two-window range of tripartite glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. Above these, there are two late 19th-century gabled dormers with two-light casements.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a late 19th-century pilastered wooden shopfront with a fascia cornice supported by curved brackets, which includes a single window with a patterned top light. To the right of this, there is a recessed half-glazed panelled door with an overlight. In the top right, there is a plain late 19th-century wooden shopfront with a single window and a half-glazed door to the left, both featuring overlights. Further to the right, there is a round-headed entry with a late 18th-century moulded panelled door.
