Description
269 and 271 Glossop Road are two houses that have been converted into offices and a dental surgery. They were built around 1830 and have undergone alterations in the mid and late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone details and feature a hipped slate roof with two party wall stacks.
The exterior includes a plinth, brick angle pilasters, a first-floor band, and a wooden eaves cornice. The structure is three storeys high and has a three-window range of partly reglazed 12-pane sash windows, most of which have brick flat arches. The central window is framed by a pilastered painted stone surround with a cornice. Above this, there are three 9-pane sashes, with the central one featuring a moulded surround.
The main entrance has a central pilastered painted stone doorcase with pilasters and a pediment, which includes a panelled door and overlight. To the right of the entrance is a plain sash window, while to the left is an altered 12-pane sash. The right side of the building has a mid-20th century square brick oriel window with multipane glazing, and above it are two small windows. Below, there is a central stone doorcase with a cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
