Description
No. 9 Castlegate is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the late 18th century and has undergone alterations in the late 19th century and mid 20th century. The building features colourwashed brick with stone dressings, a rendered ground floor, and a slate roof. It has a plinth, a first-floor band, rebated eaves, and both a single ridge and single gable stacks. The structure is three storeys high and has a four-window range of glazing bar sashes, with the leftmost window being enlarged, arranged in a pattern of 1:2:1. Above this, there is similar fenestration with smaller sashes, one of which is blank. On the ground floor, there are three segment-headed plain sashes, with a 20th-century glazed door and sidelight to the left, followed by a margin light shop window. To the right, there is a 19th-century margin light shop window with a cornice.
