SK 57 NE WORKSOP WHITWELL ROAD (North side)

3/140 Darfoulds Farm House 13.2.67 II

Farmhouse. C18, refronted early C19, altered and used as colliery offices c.1876-1950. Coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings and steep pitch Welsh slate roof. Single gable and 2 ridge stacks. All windows have plain ashlar architraves and sills. 2 storeys, 7 bays, including 2 bay addition to right. L- plan. Front has off-centre ashlar doorcase with C19 gabled timber porch, flanked to left by 2 and to right by 4 glazing bar sashes. Above, 7 similar sashes and above again, 3 gabled dormers with small glazing bar sashes, that to right a dummy. Single bay, single storey service wing to right, coursed squared rubble with pantile roof, has door and, to right, single plain sash. 3 bay rear wing has irregular C19 and C20 fenestration.
