Description
Harness Grove House is a house built around 1710, with additions made around 1890 and 1930. The structure features coursed squared rubble and rockfaced ashlar, topped with a hipped plain tile roof. It has a plinth and three large roof stacks. The house is two storeys high, plus attics, and consists of seven bays.
The main east facade includes the original five-bay section on the left, which has corner pilaster strips and a 20th-century central porch with a glazed door. This porch is flanked by 20th-century windows with parapets, each containing four glazing bar sashes. Above these, there are five glazing bar sashes set in plain band surrounds. Further up, there are three pedimented dormers featuring two-light casements.
To the right, the 19th-century addition has a single recessed bay with two plain sashes, and beyond that, there is a projecting two-storey hipped bay window with a pair of plain sashes below and a single plain sash above. The north end of the house features a projecting bay and a single-storey crenellated porch with a Tudor arched doorway and single flanking lancets.
