Description

Highfield House is an early 19th-century house, with dates of 1839 and 1928 inscribed on the building. It is rendered and painted, with a hipped slate roof and a wide modillion cornice. The west front has two storeys and three bays, set on a plinth. It features two rendered ridge stacks. A central 20th-century porch is enclosed on two sides and has cluster columns at the front and rear. A recessed glazed door, with an overlight, sits within a panelled recess. Flanking the door are single, two-storey canted bays, each with three low glazing bar sashes on the ground floor, and three similar, smaller sashes above. Above the porch is a single sash window.

The north side of the house, consisting of seven bays, has two rendered stacks. The left two bays are topped with stone-coped parapets, the left one being painted brick and the right one having urns at the corners. A doorway is situated in a slightly projecting bay, where a recessed double door with six fielded panels and a relief frieze above is set. The frieze is decorated with figures, and above it is the inscription 'TW 1839'. This is flanked by single glazing bar sashes. To the left is a projecting wing inscribed "FEP 1928" and featuring a single glazing bar sash. A further recessed bay contains a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash under a segmental arch. Above the doorway is a single glazing bar sash, with two glazing bar sashes to the right and three glazing bar sashes of differing sizes to the left.
