Description

This is a circa 1800 farmhouse with attached outbuildings, likely built for Mr Acklam of Wiseton. It is constructed of painted brick with a hipped slate roof and pantiles to the outbuildings. The farmhouse has tower-like projections with pyramidal roofs and two ridge stacks. The main two-storey, nine-bay central range is flanked by single three-storey projecting towers and single two and a half-storey projecting wings. The central range features dentillated eaves and a first-floor band. To the right is a later porch extension, positioned in the angle between the tower and wing. The façade includes a C20 casement window, a doorway with a half-glazed door, a blocked window, a blocked doorway, another small blocked window, a casement, a carriageway opening with a flat head, a slatted opening with overlight, and a doorway with a wooden door, all set within segmental arches. The right projecting wing has dentillated eaves and a cornice forming a pediment. A first-floor band features glazed French doors. The left projecting wing is a barn with dentillated eaves. The first floor of the central range has three casement windows. The right tower has a C20 casement and a blocked window, both under segmental heads. The left tower has a single blocked window under a segmental head. The right projecting wing features a single sash window under a segmental head. Blocked segmental panels are located above the tower tops, linked by a band of stretchers. There are three tie plates on the left tower and a single tie plate on the left wing.
