Description
The wall and attached gateway located to the north of Welbeck Abbey were built in the mid-19th century. Constructed from ashlar and iron, the wall features 20 bays, each separated by a single rusticated pilaster. Each bay contains two recessed blind arches with keystones, supported by squat piers. On the rear right side, there is a gateway that includes a central vermiculated rusticated pier topped with an orb. To the right of the gateway is a decorative iron gate, while the left gate is missing. This gateway is flanked by single similar piers, which are topped with pedestals, and by single coped walls that have recessed arched panels with keystones. To the left of the gateway is a single similar pier and orb, and to the right is a vermiculated rusticated respond.
