Description
The boundary wall and gates at the Houses of Rest for Miners were built in 1925 and designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield for Sir Julien Cahn. The wall is made of dressed stone and features half-round stepped and ramped coping. It has an unequal sided hexagonal plan. The square corner and side gate piers have plinths and stepped tops, topped with ball finials. There is a single gate on the east and south sides. The southeast corner has two larger square gate piers with moulded plinths, rebated corners, cornices, and ball finials. The gates are made of patterned wrought iron and bear the initials "J.C."
