Description

SK 54 NW HUCKNALL PARK DRIVE (west side) 7/60 Houses of Rest for Miners G.V. II Houses of rest for miners. 1925. Designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield for Sir Julien Cahn. Brick with plain tile and leaded hipped and gabled roofs. Ashlar dressings, rusticated quoins, stone plinth, string courses, modillioned eaves. 6 coped ridge stacks. Single storey. 3 cross gabled linked blocks each of 3 bays, the side wings splayed. Windows are single and triple glazing bar sashes, with keystoned flat arched heads. Central block has projecting pedimented central bay with pedimented framed blank panel with crest, flanked by single sashes. Beyond, single larger sashes and beyond again, single round headed doorways. Above, central octagonal cupola with stepped copper dome, clock and finial. Each flanking wing has projecting central bay with 2 sashes and above, pediment containing round window. Beyond, single sashes. Beyond again, single doorways and beyond them, single small casements. In each end, a single sash. Each rear elevation has projecting central pedimented bay with 2 sashes, flanked by single flat roofed additions each with door flanked by single casements.
