Description

Point Lodge is a house built around 1900, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield. It is constructed of red brick with stone corner details. The roof is tiled, featuring two large brick chimney stacks. The front of the house, facing the garden, is symmetrical, with a roof in three sections and five twelve-pane sash windows. A central doorcase is topped with a pediment and incorporates a partly glazed door. The southwest elevation is roughcast and contains a single sash window and a canted bay window on the ground floor. The northwest, or entrance, front is asymmetrical, with a projecting left-hand section clad in tiles and topped with a gable. The first floor of this section has two double-sash windows under the gable and an eight-pane sash window to the right. The ground floor features a double sash window and a projecting wooden, glazed, pedimented porch. A single-story brick extension with a hipped tiled roof and three French windows extends from the northwest elevation. Inside, the house retains a plain pine staircase with a column newel and a decorative ball finial to the balcony above. The doors are from the 20th century, and the lounge fireplace dates to around 1980, designed in the Adam style.
