Description
The stables at Saltcote Place are a stable block built around 1905 by Sir Reginald Blanfield, designed in a vernacular Neo-Caroline style. The structure is made of red brick and features tile-hung gables, with a red brick wall enclosing the courtyard. The roofs are plain tiled and include four chimneys on the main block, as well as a central clock-cupola. The main block is taller than the lower wings, which form a courtyard enclosed by a wall with a central entrance. The main block has two storeys, while the wings are single storey. The main block is flanked by hipped roofed towers with finials, and there is a wooden balustraded gallery between them. The windows are slightly irregular and consist of wooden casements, with a door set in a recess below the gallery. The lower wings have deeper eaves, and the enclosing walls are stone-coped brick, rising from the ends of the wings to brick piers on either side of the entrance.
