Description
This building is a row of cottages and an attached shop located on The Green in Waddingham. It dates from the 18th century and early 19th century. The structure is made of colourwashed rubblestone and brick, topped with pantile roofs and brick ridge stacks. The cottages, numbered 1 to 5, are primarily single-unit plans with rear kitchens or pantries. Cottages 1 to 3 are 18th century, raised in the early 19th century.
The row is two storeys high and features a total of five windows, all of which are 6/6 sash windows. On the ground floor, there are three 20th-century windows, with the two on the left being multi-paned, along with two original 6/6 sashes set under brick cambered arches. The doors are either part-glazed or four-panel designs. At the right end of the row is a single-storey shop that has a large 3/3 sash window and a plank door. The rear of the building includes several two-light horizontal sliding sashes and plank doors.
Overall, this row of cottages has seen some alterations but remains in a prominent position on The Green.
