Description

This is a row of cottages located on the north side of High Street, Brightlingsea. The cottages likely date to the 17th or 18th century, although they may have earlier origins, and have undergone alterations since. The construction is timber-framed and clad with weatherboards. The roofs are grey slate at the front and red plain tiles at the rear, with a central chimney stack. The cottages are two storeys high. The first floor features five small-paned, vertically sliding sash windows. The ground floor has three small-paned sash windows and a shop window to the right. There are six-panelled doors to the left, centre, and right. The left-hand door has a simple surround, and the central and right-hand doors are framed by moulded surrounds and have flat canopies. An archway with a segmental head is positioned between the two central and right-hand doors.
