Description
The Swan is a public house with origins dating back to the 16th century, with additions from the 17th century on the left side, and later alterations and additions around 1905. The building is timber framed and rough rendered, topped with red plain tiled roofs. It stands two storeys high with attics and features gabled crossings on the right and left sides, along with a central gable added in the 20th century. There are angled two-storey bays on both sides, and a single-storey porch made of grey slate, supported by cast iron columns with ornate scrolled brackets, which extends between the crosswings.
The structure includes two external red brick chimney stacks on the left and one on the right, as well as a red brick stack on the rear ridge of the left crosswing. The gables on the right and left have batten decoration and a square light, while the central gable features a triangular light. The angled bays contain two-light transomed casements. There are three similar windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor to the right and left, flanked by 20th-century glazed doors. Additionally, there is a north oriel window from the 18th or 19th century.
