Description
The Mount is a house located on Irnham Road in Corby Glen, dating from the 18th century but significantly altered and extended in 1840. It is constructed of squared limestone rubble, ashlar, and stucco, with ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and features raised stone coped gables and two stone gable stacks. The building has an L-plan layout, now appearing as part of a parallel range, and is two storeys high with a three-bay front.
The front has a first-floor sill band and a moulded parapet. The central entrance consists of a glazed door accessed by three moulded steps, topped with an overlight and sheltered by a wooden Tuscan porch that has a moulded entablature and a flat lead roof. Flanking the entrance are two canted two-storey ashlar bays, which contain glazing bar sash windows. Above the door is another glazing bar sash window, featuring a cambered ashlar lintel with a stepped and fluted keyblock. A weathered stone on the left-hand gable appears to indicate the date of 1840. At the rear, a straight joint is visible between the 18th-century fabric and the later addition.
