Description
Scotland House is a house dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The building has stone-coped gables and brick gable and ridge stacks, two of which have dentilated cornices. The roof is covered with 19th-century clay interlocking tiles.
The house is two storeys high with a garret and has a four-bay front. The entrance is off-center and features a 19th-century six-panelled door, which is sheltered by a moulded stone porch with a flat stone head. To the right of the door, there is a single three-light timber mullion casement window, and to the left, there are two similar windows. Above the door, there are three identical windows, all with flat stone lintels and cills. To the right of the main structure, there is a later single-storey two-bay extension. Inside, the beams have plain chamfered stops.
